Things made, and being made

These Leatherboy Stools are a design commissioned by the excellent and frenetic Iain Munro of Bruin, Cornershop and Wee Jeanie – A trio of west Melbourne cafes. Iain has great visual taste and is a snap to work for. His real talent lies in trusting you to do what you do. It brings out the best in us, and his places all seem to say this in a different way.

These stools are made from recycled French oak, shipped to the antipodes about a hundred years back, and then worked into Australian wine barrels  which have been oaking Australian wines for about 80 years. I have had the fortune to re-work this valuable and lovely material into an entirely new form. Lets hope they like it.
