Round leg on a square shoulder. (This one’s for the makers…)

IMG_2114It was a real pleasure to cut all the shoulders back clean for these Ash tables, and the sweet IMG_2113job done on the turnings made it easy to just peel back the excess to IMG_2112reveal the crisp transition from square to round that is such a simple but pleasing visual detail.

Japanese saw cuts back to the leg line, chisel pares down the waste… Hand planing the front of these legs however was less of a pleasure indeed and my right shoulder is still complaining.
